Become a technical recruiter

We hire people who already care about technology and train them to become great technical recruiters.

Sometimes that's a developer who wants to be in a more people focused role. Sometimes it's a product manager who wants more autonomy. The glue that binds us at Lookahead is that we care about technology and bringing people together. Each of us has experience in a software team, and it's that empathy for how products are built that helps us match the right people to the right companies.

What's involved?

From day one you'll have clients who need your help hiring software engineers. They're companies who are making their own software products that care about building high performing teams. You'll be paired up with another Lookahead recruiter who will help show you the ropes.

You'll use the knowledge you gained working in software teams to spot talented developers. The obvious ones, and the not so obvious. You'll visit potential new clients and figure out if they're the sort of place developers would be able to do great work. You'll get involved in technical communities and contribute in a meaningful way. That means going to plenty of meetups and conferences so you’re always able to stay up to date with technology. :)

It's a relaxed office environment with a supportive, diverse team who love to share their knowledge. You're interviewing all the time so it's hard for this to be a remote role, but we work from home a day a week. Some of us like to arrive and leave early in order to make the school pickup.

Things we need from you

    A genuine interest in technology

    It's hard to fake caring. We're all involved in the web development community and are passionate about giving back. We generally get to a meetup every week and find it fun. We'd hope you do too.

    A long term focus

    Recruiting can be simple but it sure isn't easy. Give us a year to show you the ropes. It's up to us to keep it interesting every year after that. :)

    Ability to write good well

    Recruiters are professional communicators. And professional expectation setters. And counsellors. And many other things...

    A sense of humour

    We take work seriously, but not ourselves.

Why we love it

Although I’m not coding on a daily basis, I’ve really enjoyed meeting developers and chatting with them. Having that technical background definitely helps me in being able to understand what developers and companies are after. Salary + benefits

$80k to $100k + super, depending on your experience. There's a generous commission scheme and profit share to go on top of that.

Up to 5 weeks annual leave after your first year, then up to 6 weeks after your second year. Work from home a day per week.
